PAINFUL DECISION NOT TO HARVEST AT ALL THIS YEAR




Dear friends and faithful clients,
 
Sadly (for us) the frequent rains and lower temperatures that marked this summer have proved extremely beneficial to the wellbeing of the olive fly, the number one parasite of the olives and main threat to both the quality and the quantity of the olive oil. The fly lays its eggs in the olive’s pulp and the larva digs tunnels leading to the fall of the olives themselves, as well as to serious harm to the quality, taste and healthiness of the oil.
 
The good news is that this will not affect you, the consumers, but only us producers who have had to make the painful decision NOT to harvest at all this year, in the name of the quality we are determined to go on producing. 
 
However, last year’s providentially abundant, as well as exquisite, oil will hopefully allow us to go on satisfying our clients up to next year’s harvest.
 
I believe all of you who have participated in an olive oil tasting have learned that the lasting freshness of olive oil is ensured by the care now provided to avoid any possible oxidation. The oil will remain just as fresh and healthy for 2 years after it has been produced.
 
So, you will still be able to buy our olive oils this year, with the same taste, aromas and health characteristics. In fact, they will only be less expensive…
 
A further advantage from the consumers’ point of view, beyond the reduced price, is that the oil will be able to arrive amply in time for Christmas presents. Which was not always the case when we were waiting for the new oil to be produced and obliged to rely on clogged courier services around festivity time… So please feel free to order ahead!
 
Meanwhile this comes with all our wishes for a peaceful, fruitful, and cheerful end of the year, looking forward to seeing you here before the end of 2025, or more likely, next year!
